We assess, test and remediate mold in homes and light commercial buildings across Gettysburg and Adams County. That means containment, removal of material that cannot be salvaged, treatment and drying of what stays, correction of the moisture source, and verification that the area returned to normal.
We are a remediation contractor, not a directory or a lead broker. When you call, you are talking to the people who would be doing the work, which is also why we are willing to tell you when you do not need us.
This is worth saying plainly because it affects how you should choose anyone in this trade, including us. Pennsylvania has no state licensing requirement for mold remediation contractors. There is no state exam, no state registration, and no state credential to verify. Anyone can print a business card that says mold remediation on it.
So the burden falls on you to ask better questions. Ask what training the people doing the work have completed. Ask for proof of general liability insurance and whether it actually covers mold work, because many policies specifically exclude it. Ask how containment will be established and whether negative air will be used. Ask whether post-remediation clearance testing is performed, and crucially, whether it is performed by an independent party rather than by the contractor who did the work.

Moisture first. If the water source is not identified and corrected, whatever is removed will grow back — and you will have paid for a process that only bought time. A great deal of the mold work sold in this country skips this step because it is the least visible part and the hardest to sell.
Containment second. Cutting into colonised material without containment distributes spores through the rest of the building, which turns one room into a whole-house problem. Barriers and negative air go up before anything is disturbed.
Verification last. Moisture readings and visual inspection at minimum, with independent laboratory clearance sampling where the scale of the job warrants it.
Do not paint over it. Mould-resistant coatings are formulated to resist growth on the coating, not to remediate what is underneath, and they conceal the condition while it continues.
Do not rely on bleach on porous material. On drywall, framing or insulation the growth is in the material rather than on it, and the water content of household bleach can make matters worse.
Do not finish a basement that gets wet. New framing, insulation and drywall against a wall that periodically takes on moisture recreates the identical problem behind a new surface.
